The truth comes out

The demon who stabbed children had the audacity to lie about his beliefs:

The news was shocking beyond measure: a man went on a stabbing spree at a playground in the French city of Annecy last Thursday, stabbing four three-year-olds and an adult. The attacker shouted “In the name of Jesus Christ” as he did his stabbing and claimed to be a Christian. He even had a made-to-order Christian name: Abdelmasih Hanoun; “Abdelmasih” means “Slave of Christ.”

It was suspicious and contrived, but it did seem to confirm the Leftist elites’ claim that the largest terror threat comes from right-wing Christians. There was just one catch: some people have recognized Abdelmasih Hanoun and say that he is actually a Muslim.

Shocking! A Muslim went about trying to murder innocents!

If the people who say they have recognized Selwan Majd are correct, it would certainly explain the anomalies of this peculiar case, which from the beginning seemed less like an actual case of Christian terrorism than a Muslim’s idea of what a Christian terrorist might be like. The attacker’s shout of “In the name of Jesus Christ” was all too obviously meant to be a parallel to the jihadis’ ubiquitous scream of “Allahu akbar.” But when has any Christian anywhere committed acts of violence while screaming this phrase? It was just too neat, suggesting not so much a Christian terrorist as someone who wanted very much to be thought of as a Christian terrorist.

Waste of resources

The replies indicate that the average Canadian is fed up with this government bullshit.

Colorful chaos

The government has banned colorful marketing for cigarettes plus they mandate ugly photos and health warnings on the packaging. Then, we get this for crack pipes:

Aussie efficiency

The Aussies win, of course:

India fought hard for six sessions starting with the third day to give themselves some hope on the final day, but Australia finally broke the resistance to win the World Test Championship for the first time. Twice runners-up now, India have beaten Australia in the last four Test series between them - two in India, two in Australia - but Australia were the superior side in the conditions in England, where they will now play The Ashes against the hosts.

It has become so predictable. Australia shows up for the big games. Their gold collection is quite unique:

This was Australia's ninth ICC title, making them the only team to have won at least one of each trophy: five ODI World Cups, two ODI Champions Trophies, one T20 World Cup, and now the World Test Championship.

India, on the flip side, just can't seem to win the title in big tournaments. Their last big win was ten years ago!

Soft and fluffy

Many Canadians have fixed 5-year mortgage rates that renew for another five years at the market rate. That'll definitely hurt.

That's an extra monthly payment of $1,000. Given stagnant wages, scorching inflation, and a real estate market that's about to fall off a cliff, it would have shocking to get a soft landing.

The pain hasn't hit

It's surprising to see the stock market go up by 20% in the last 8 months. It's going to be rough till the end of 24.

That compassionate Canadian health care

It's certainly one effective way to lower health care costs:

Canada has seen another record-busting year of euthanasia deaths, with a 35 percent rise to some 13,500 state-sanctioned suicides in 2022, an analysis of official data shows.

[...] Canada has one of the world's most permissive assisted suicide programs. Critics say it's on a perilous road to mass euthanasia and ever-more pressure on the sick, disabled and poor to end their lives prematurely.

Alex Schadenberg, director of the coalition, said euthanasia rates were 'skyrocketing' because a 'heavy promotion of MAiD within our medical system' had 'normalized' lethal injections.

Canadians are taxed tens of thousands of dollars in their life for the health care system. When they are old or jobless and become a burden, the response from the government: GO KILL YOURSELF!

Isn't it something that the very infrastructure that was lionized for providing much needed support for the poor and helpless in society is literally killing them. No doubt, the government isn't ending the lives of rich people -- they simply travel abroad and pay cash for their healthcare needs.

DIE-versity in France

A Syrian shares his culture with the people of France:

Police say the attacker was arrested, and his identity papers showed he's a Syrian national who holds refugee status in Sweden. At least six people, including four children, have been injured after a knife attack in the southeast French town of Annecy, near the border with Switzerland.

Two of the children and an adult have "life threatening injuries," according to officials. One of the children is a British national.

A few "Clown World" solutions to this problem:

  • ban playgrounds
  • better knife control
  • more social workers
  • instant full citizenship to poor foreigners
  • tell stupid French people to stop having kids. So, zero targets!

One feels so sad. Just think of the inevitable backlash against Syrians and other peoples from the Middle East. Terrible!

FARKKED

My brain initially read that fund as fraud. Works both ways.

Cathie didn't lock in the incredible gains. Worse, she doubled down and then lost money in one of the most frothy 5-year time periods for the stock market.

Welcome to America!

Chinese engineers get enriched by diversity in the US:

Reports indicate that new communities in Arizona, built with the influx of TSMC engineers in mind, have been targeted by thugs, hoodlums, and ne’er-do-wells. Taiwan’s Economic Daily says there were at least two days last month when residents at TSMC Village A and TSMC Village B were disturbed by criminal activity. Popular targets for the criminals appear to be the homes and cars of residents.

On the bright side, nobody has been murdered yet:

These aren’t the most heinous crimes, but they could drain the morale of the new residents. Moreover, many people’s inspiration to relocate is to seek a better life. If residents have uprooted and moved all the way from Taiwan, the post-move dissonance will be understandably greater.

Lame heat

It's always amusing when there's a formal "heat wave" in Ontario, Canada. That's three or more days with maximum temperatures above 32C. I lived in Saudi Arabia. We would get three or more months with minimum temperatures above 32C. I would often do grocery shopping around midnight in the summer when it was a nice, cool 36C. We would crack 50C on a few hellish days. That ice cream would have melted before one could even take it out of the wrapper.

So many whales

Damn! I would have guessed 150 for the average American woman.

Breasts or thighs?

No disagreement here. The higher fat content of the thighs does give them a superior flavor. The benefit of the breast is lower calories. If you're strict about losing weight, then chicken breasts are one of the best proteins to eat.

Joggers of the month

Rapid fire enrichment in Chicago:

A newly acquired video shows four people, at least two armed with machine guns, unleashing a torrent of gunfire in Chicago on Wednesday evening.

The shots left a 14-year-old boy dead and at least three others injured. Later, a 16-year-old boy fired a gun at Chicago police officers as they investigated the shooting. He was charged yesterday with six counts of attempted murder of peace officers.

If Obama had a son, he would look like that 16-year-old boy.

Two great innings of our time

Perera's 153, Laxman's 281 or Stokes' 135 - which is the best Test batting performance of all time?

Laxman's 281 is legendary. He beat the team that had won 16 matches in a row. His pesky defiance was so exhausting for the Aussies that they ended up losing their next match and thus the series. There's only one thing that could have made Laxman's innings even greater: he played it in Australia.

Laxman in 2001 accumulated in a responsible manner but Stokes in 2019 was pure madness. He wasn't interested in a draw. He was hitting sixes! Winning the ODI World Cup wasn't enough. Stokes had to write his name in the Test record books as well. The mighty Aussies were, again, the losers.

Laxman beats Stokes in the historical context. However, nothing tops the entertainment value of Stokes crushing the spirits of Aussie bowlers on that sunny day. Nathan Lyon wishes he could forget that not out.

How to lose money

Norway didn't learn from history:

If your net wealth is approximately $135,000 or more and you live in Norway, you've long been subject to a 0.85 percent wealth tax. That rate has, as of this year, been hiked to 1.1 percent by the center-left government, and even more gobs of cash will be taken from rich people worth roughly $1.8 million, who will be taxed at a rate of 1.3 percent.

Yes, let's give super wealthy people even more reasons to leave behind a cold place for a warmer and less parasitical country.

Per the Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv, 30 of the country's multimillionaires and billionaires left the country last year in advance of the wealth tax hike. "This was more than the total number of super-rich people who left the country during the previous 13 years, it added," noted The Guardian. "Even more super-rich individuals are expected to leave this year because of the increase in wealth tax in November, costing the government tens of millions in lost tax receipts."

I'm sure that thousands of grocery store workers, waiters, car salesmen, mechanics, real estate agents, hotel assistants, etc. are happy in Norway because they no longer have to serve these wealthy individuals. That's the reality: the rich leave and the average guys lose jobs.
