I've noticed this in Canada as well:

The volume of sugar that kids eat today is out of control. For example, "healthy" fruit juices pack an insane amount of calories. Worse, they're not satiating at all -- which means more calories added later.

Just a few days ago, I saw a family, a biking trio -- mom, dad, and a son. It was strange to see a severely overweight boy but normal looking parents. Those unhealthy habits are tough to overcome. Exercise won't cut it. The diet must change. The kid likely gets whatever junk food he wants. The parents have to put the foot down.

Perfidy

A homeless person who owns three properties:

Brandie LaCasse has been waiting on rent for nearly a year. She owns three properties in upstate New York, but the single mother and Air Force veteran is functionally homeless after falling on hard times herself.

After notifying tenants they had to move out so she could move in, the tenants stopped paying rent and stayed put, she said. She and her daughter have been living out of her car and staying with friends.

Brandie just learned about the compassionate nature of government:

"I don't understand how they can give my private property to somebody to live for free. I bought that property. I fixed it up with my blood, sweat and tears," she said.

Worse, if she has mortgages, then soon she'll lose the properties to the banks. She put her eggs in one basket: real estate. This shows how no investment is truly safe.

There have been 1.5 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Canada. 27,000 have died. The rest have natural immunity that beats vaccines. Yet, almost all of Canada will soon have some sort of a vaccine passport system. Why are governments and businesses discriminating against 1.5 million people who don't even need a vaccine? Where are the brave lovers of SCIENCE!?

Not getting incentives

Benevolent socialists have often fixed the price of food because the evil farmers are gouging the average person. Then, everyone is shocked when the farmers simply stop growing crops because they can't get money for their labor. The same logic applies to renting:

There was an application process for renting an apartment in my area. One had to submit personal information for a credit check while also having an in-province job history of a minimum of five years. That was in 2004. It isn't just six months rent upfront. Landlords can use strict criteria to weed out potential troublemakers. For example:

  • age
  • race
  • job history
  • credit score
  • marital status

So, if you're a single guy in his early 20s working at a fast food joint who has saved a few thousand dollars for renting a new apartment, then you'll still be rejected because you're not safe enough for the landlords who've been drained by parasites.

No rules for the political elite

Prime Minister Zoolander doesn't even attempt to follow the law:

As Trudeau was taking questions though, he was asked about breaking Ontario’s indoor gathering restrictions.

“Are you breaking the spirit if not the letter of the law to hold a party event and lecture the premier of Ontario on vaccine passports?” Trudeau was asked by CBC reporter Raffy Boudjikanian.

Trudeau didn’t even attempt to answer the question, instead speaking about the important choice Canadians are facing and the work the Liberal government has undertaken during the pandemic.

Of course.

Ontario’s ongoing restrictions cap restaurants at 50% capacity with the caveat that social distancing must be maintained. Private indoor events are capped at 25 people.

Trudeau’s campaign event was private and held inside a restaurant with more than 25 people and no social distancing. Reporters, supporters, tech crews and campaign workers were jammed into the location and not everyone was comfortable.

Rules are for the little people! Zoolander and his cronies are exempt. Goes to show how serious this pandemic is and liberals care deeply about not killing grandma. Now, put on your face diaper and bend over for the nth jab!

In a move no one can grasp, U.S. officials in Kabul gave the Taliban a list of names of American citizens, green card holders, and Afghan allies, believing the Taliban would allow them to enter the militant-controlled outer perimeter of the city’s airport. Lawmakers and military officials are outraged.

The Taliban must be thinking: are these infidels retarded?

Strong Root

78 all out. Sharma, Rahul, and Kohli scored a combined 26 runs. It was even more shocking to see England score 135 runs before losing a wicket. What happened?

Root is in phenomenal form. Three centuries in three matches. Over 500 runs! Reminds me of Alastair Cook's epic Ashes series in which he scored 766 runs. Root has a chance of surpassing that.

One record he'll most likely break:

875 Runs by Root against India in Tests in 2021. These are the third-most runs by any player in a calendar year against an opponent, behind only Don Bradman's 974 against England in 1930 and Clive Lloyd's 903, also against India, in 1983.

They might as well give Root the man of the series award right now.

That's the problem: Most People Are Idiots.

I met a neighbor today. She's an old lady. She asked, "Did you get vaccinated?"

"No."

Pause. "Are you going to get vaccinated?"

"No."

"Oh. That's unfortunate."

Shrug.

"You know many employers are requiring that workers get vaccinated."

"Yes."

I didn't argue. Just went along with my day. She got her two jabs and still wears her mask. Soon, she'll be told to get her nth shot and she will. Her choice.

Oh, it only took a few months for Trudeau to flip:

After the majority of Canadians got their two jabs, he conveniently switches his position to openly discriminate against the unvaccinated. He bets that the petty majority will continue to support him.

Three failures

You know you're in trouble when you've lost more wickets than scored in runs. Pakistan was reduced to 2/3 by the West Indies. The Ali, Butt, and Ali trio managed two epic runs. Of course, this is Pakistan. So, they had a prompt century partnership for the 4th wicket.

56 runs. That's the combined score of the Pakistani openers in this series so far. That's in three innings. For context, both Babar and Fawad scored more than that today. Pakistan might as well have these two to start in the future.

The Premier of New South Wales has acknowledged that without dramatically lower case numbers, even opening up at 80% vaccination rates will be difficult, as hopes of a lighter lockdown beyond August fade, and Brad Hazzard the Minister for Health and Medical Research has now told parents in a press conference that 24,000 children will be herded like cattle into a stadium to get the experimental Covid-19 vaccine, and parents will not allowed to be present.

At this point, I think we can safely assume that China will annex Australia any time it wants. If Australians won’t even defend their children from being injected with an experimental gene therapy from which they can’t possibly benefit, they certainly aren’t going to offer even a modicum of resistance to the Red Army.

The PC build commentary at the 24 minute mark made me laugh. I'm glad that none of my computer components are from Gigabyte. I wonder how many people waited months to get a  $1,000+ graphics card as part of a combo in a shuffle to then see it get fried by a defective power supply?

No police for you!

Two St. Louis City sheriff deputies were fired after working security for Congresswoman Cori Bush. Now, one of them is defending himself, saying his firing was unfair.

What a quintessential politician! Supports defunding the police while personally paying them tens of thousands of dollars for her own security!

The sheriff told News 4 Jackson and Thompson violated policy by not getting approval to work a secondary shift as security guards. He said the two were warned not to do it again but several weeks later, he said his office was called by the VA police in Jefferson Barracks who said the two men were again providing security for Bush.

The sheriff also said he was concerned because neither Jackson or Thompson have current individual private security licenses to work in the city. News 4 has verified this. Given the multiple violations, the sheriff said he fired the two deputies.

Can't argue with the following:

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt has continued to criticize Bush for using private security at all.

"It’s the height of hypocrisy. It’s incredibly reckless for Representative Bush to have her own private security and tells everybody else to suck it up, as she seeks to defund the police," Schmitt said. "Meanwhile St. Louis had a 50-year high in murders last year as violent crime rages on. It’s just a complete disconnect with reality."

A total of 74 people on Martha's Vineyard have tested positive for Covid- 19 since former President Barack Obama's 60th birthday extravaganza last Saturday, more than any week since April.

However, health officials note it's still too early to know whether the hundreds of guests and workers gathered for his weekend of maskless parties have contributed to the surge in cases.

Later, in the article, we get this gem:

But some of the island's residents scoffed at the measures to create a COVID-free zone, given that partygoers were circulating between various events and locations, in a town raging with a Delta strain that spreads quickly.

Even vaccinated individuals aren't immune. Of the 48 people who tested positive last week, more than half were vaccinated, according to health officials.

Money printer goes brrrr

I looked at the local sale price increases of a few items compared to two years ago.

Eggs: $2 --> $2.8
Butter: $3 --> $3.5
Milk (4L): $4 --> $4.7
Coke (6 pack): $2 --> $2.8
Potatoes (10 lbs): $2 --> $4
TV dinner (300g): $2 --> $3
Peanut butter (1kg): $3 --> $4.5
Chicken legs (1 lb): $1.5 --> $2.5
Lean ground beef (1 lb): $3 --> $5

For a second, I was surprised by the tiny increase for milk. Of course, the milk price is set artificially high by the Canadian government. So, it didn't go up as much because it's not the market price. Add in the price increases for rent, electricity, internet, electronics (especially graphics cards and laptops) and your average person is getting squeezed hard.

Get the jabs or lose your job:

The federal government said Friday it will require air and train travellers, as well as public servants and workers in federally regulated industries, be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Transport Minister Omar Alghabra announced Friday that employees working in the federally regulated industries – including the air, rail and marine sectors – will be required to be vaccinated no later than the end of October.

Furthermore, the definition of "fully vaccinated" will keep changing with each additional booster jab.

Two years later: Oh, Mr. Kent, you didn't get your sixth shot? Too bad. You're fired!
