90% are worthless

As long as we're distance learning, could we not enlist the most competent, dynamic, enthusiastic teachers to largely teach everyone in that particular grade and subject?

MIT was putting lectures online starting in the late 90s. Today, thanks to the pandemic, there's no good reason in having mediocre teachers online. Schools could easily fire most of the staff and keep the superstar teachers / lecturers around. Of course, taking the logic to its limit, there is zero educational need for schools. Students can simply watch pre-recorded lessons during the day. Unfortunately, the purpose of the education system is to be a glorified prison where the inmates are bombarded with propaganda. So, the inept teachers won't be let go anytime soon.
