Riyadh issued the ban in an effort to halt the spread of the virus, suspending visits to the holy cities in response to Covid-19 concerns.

Smart decision. Millions of Muslims from over a hundred countries go to Mecca every year. These Muslims have saved money for years, sometimes decades, to visit Mecca. They're usually old. Add in the jet lag and many hours of walking, they're also exhausted. Then, after only a few days in Mecca, they go back. It's the optimal location for any virus to cause global havoc.

A Pennsylvania elementary school called the police after a kindergartner with Down syndrome made a finger gun at her teacher. Officials concluded there wasn't a threat, but the girl's mother said they went too far.

Maggie Gaines called on the Tredyffrin-Easttown School District to update its threat assessment policy after her 6-year-old daughter Margot was questioned by administrators for making a gun gesture at her elementary school teacher and pretended to shoot her.

Stretched thin

Aurora wanted to be #1 but now, there's a strong possibility that they'll go bankrupt:

Aurora Cannabis Inc. reported a second-quarter loss Thursday that missed analyst expectations due to a sharp decline in cannabis production, while writing down about $1 billion in assets as the pot giant looks to dramatically reduce spending to become profitable.

The management at Aurora used shares worth $3.2 billion to buy two companies (CanniMed and MedReleaf) in a six-month period in 2018. Not to mention the dozens of other companies they bought over the years. Today, the market valuation of Aurora is $2.13 billion. Its stock price is down 88% from all-time highs. They're losing money and running out of cash fast.

They were foolish to tout an annual grow rate of 600,000 kg of cannabis two years ago. Today, they are harvesting only 30,000 kg a quarter while selling about a third of that.

The quarterly results, presupposed by last week's corporate overhaul, mark a pivotal period for the cannabis company, which is the second-largest pot producer in the world by valuation behind rival Canopy Growth Corp.

I had a feeling that was wrong. So, I checked the market caps on Google Finance:

1. Canopy Growth (TSE:WEED) :: $9.3 billion.
2. Cronos (TSE:CRON) :: $3.2 billion.
3. Aurora (TSE: ACB) :: $2.13 billion.

Aurora was the second-largest. Now, it's at the third position.

A Swedish court has sentenced an Iraqi asylum seeker to eight years in prison for honour crimes after he beat his daughter with a kebab spit, locked up his wife, and forced his daughters to wear Islamic veils.

The oldest daughter was also forced to pretend to be handicapped in order for the father to collect social assistance, with the father refusing to allow a doctor’s examination to prove the supposed disability.

Physical abuse from the father was also prevalent toward the daughters and their mother, with punches kicks and beatings with a kebab skewer taking place. One beating was so brutal that the wife suffered a miscarriage.

Justice in Islam

A Hindu girl in Pakistan was kidnapped and forced to reject her faith. If that wasn't enough, she was married off to a Muslim twice her age.

On January 16, 2020, Mehak Kumari went missing from her house in Jacobabad, in Pakistan’s Sindh province. Her family says one Ali Raza Solangi kidnapped and converted her to Islam at the Dargah Amroot Sharif in Shikarpur and then married her. Mehak, also known as Nanki Kumari, is 15. Ali Raza, 28, they allege.

That was last month. Now, Islamic clerics in Pakistan are calling for her death:

A scorned man who pushed a teenager off a fourth floor balcony after she rejected his advances has been found guilty grievous bodily harm.

Yusef Ali, 19, of Corry Drive, Lambeth, stabbed two men before pushing the 18-year-old victim from a luxury Southwark apartment last year when a party descended into chaos.

She landed on the hard floor below and suffered significant injuries including fractures to her neck and lower back.
