Socialism: waiting in line to get bread for free— Revolver Volcelot (@costaggini) 17 November 2018
Capitalism: waiting in line to pay $4.99 for bread ($4.49 with club card)
$4.99 for bread!? I bought some for $1.89 (US$1.44) last week.
In the Soviet controlled Ukraine, my grandma used to wait 2-3 hours in line for bread, coffee, toilet paper, and water. Often, by the time her ticket was called, there was nothing left. This would happen every few weeks!!! https://t.co/NPkfrogtlE— Andrew Kofman (@andrew_kofman) 19 November 2018
That grandma was lucky. The lovely Soviets systematically starved and murdered millions of Ukrainians in the 1930s.
Important economics lesson: a lot more people starve when bread is free than when it isn’t. Pay attention to the supply side... https://t.co/h8P7YrAKQY— John Breen (@johndavidbreen) 19 November 2018
It's amazing how an atrocious ideology that can't even provide basic food and nutrition is still thought of as caring and compassionate.
