Unhappy liberation

Armed and Dangerous:

Women are hypergamous. They want to marry men who are bigger, stronger, higher-status, a bit older, and a bit brighter than they are. This is massively confirmed by statistics on actual marriages; only the “a bit brighter” part is even controversial, and most of that controversy is ideological posturing.

OK, so what happens when women get educated, achieve economic equality, etcetera? Their pool of eligible hypergamic targets shrinks; the princess marrying the swineherd is a fairytale precisely because it’s so rare. More women seeking hypergamy from a higher baseline means the competition for eligible males is more intense, and womens’ ability to withold sex vanishes even supposing they want to. Thus, college campuses today, and plunging marriages rate tomorrow.

That's probably one of the big reasons why I see so many miserable, single women at my workplace. They're lonely but also deeply averse to dating men who're less educated or wealthy or sometimes even at the same level of status. Such criteria rules out most men in their lives. I've seen men who're very interested in dating particular women but too often the women relegate them to LJBF territory.

It's a sad sight every time.

Anyway, read the entire post. There are many interesting comments at the end.

Pig doesn't like bacon

The Telegraph via Vlad Tepes:

Mouhamad Khaled, 23, his 20-year-old girlfriend Daphne Florence Austin and his father Walid Khaled, 53, have been charged over the brawl at the Bankstown fast food outlet.

Why?

Police allege the trouble began when the group began abusing counter staff because their hamburger contained bacon.

I blame the Jews.

As they attempted to restrain Mouhamad Khaled he allegedly grabbed their handcuffs and assaulted them. He struck probationary Constable Matthew Sutherland on the head before swinging them at Senior Constable Alicia Bridges, hitting her.

Behold The Bacon Rage! It's the close second cousin of Cartoon Rage.

The same old deal

James Pethokoukis via Instapundit:

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was Barack Obama’s signature achievement in dealing with the most worrisome set of economic conditions since the Great Depression. It was how Obama, to use a pair of his now seemingly abandoned metaphors, sought to drag the economy out of the ditch while the Republicans were standing around sipping Slurpees.

As Obama said on the first anniversary of signing the bill, “It is largely thanks to the Recovery Act that a second Depression is no longer a possibility.”

No, it's partly thanks to the epic and wasteful government spending that we'll see the Great Depression 2.0.

The New Deal had the same effect in the 1930s. FDR tried many different policies which were puzzling and economically destructive but it gave the appearance that he was doing SOMETHING instead of doing nothing like those heartless republicans.

A small sample of what went on in the 1930s:

1. Farmers, who were a decent chunk of the voting bloc, hated low prices for food. So, the US government gave handouts to farmers to not grow food! That's right. Millions are without jobs. Many have lost their savings when hundreds of banks failed. They don't have money for utilities or food. Yet, the government is taking money out of the private sector and handing it to a special group ... so that food prices stay high.

2. The government enforces a minimum wage. If a person wants to buy a service, let's say a haircut for $0.50, then that's illegal because the minimum charge ought to be $0.60. Some "criminals" ignore the law and offer a haircut for $0.50 anyway. When the cops find out, they go to jail. This actually happened -- a person spent time behind bars because they took a lower than mandated wage for a haircut!

3. Promotion of labor unions. They increase the wages of workers in the union but overall decrease the number of employed workers in the economy. Not something you would want in the middle of a depression.

All they want is a kidney

Anandtech:

For today's review OCZ sent us a 1.6TB Z-Drive R4 CM88. We have a preproduction board that has a number of stability & compatibility issues. OCZ tells us these problems will be addressed in the final version of the drives due to ship in the coming weeks. OCZ expects pricing on this board to be somewhere in the $6 - $7/GB range depending on configuration. Doing the math that works out to be anywhere between $9600 - $11200 for this single SSD.

Holy Schnikes! It better be stable when it's released.

Fate of infidels

Tambi Dude emailed a couple of links in the last few days.

1. Jihadists in Pakistan provide the name of a British mosque for inquiries:

A south London mosque is at the centre of allegations it helped promote of acts of terror and hate in Pakistan.

Leaflets circulating in Pakistan calling for the murder of members of the Ahmadi Muslim sect directed readers to a website naming Stockwell Mosque.

2. Authorities in India give in to pressure and close down an exhibition by a tiny Muslim sect:

A three-day exhibition of the meanings of the Noble Quran organized by a deviant Muslim group in India has been closed after protests from Muslim scholars in the South Asian country.

“Scholars across the world and in India have given a collective verdict that Ahmadiyyahs are not Muslims,” said Shahi Imam Syed Ahmad Bukhari, India Express reported on Sunday, September 25.

More:

Ahmadiyyah was declared a deviant group by the Indonesia Ulemas Council (MUI), the country's highest Muslim authority, last January.

Later, the Ahmadis were attacked. The barbarians who follow the religion of peace had no qualms about brutally murdering several Ahmadis in public. One can find a video which showcases some of the savagery.

Is light slow?

Perhaps.

It reminds me of a lecture I attended in university. The speaker was an American astronomer. He started the talk by relaying what happened at the Toronto airport. The security person had asked him a few standard questions.

"So, what's your reason for visiting Canada?"

"I'm a professor. I teach astronomy. I'm here for a lecture series for a week or so."

"Astronomy, ay. What's that exactly?"

"Oh, I study the planets, stars and other galaxies. You know lots of peering through the telescope."

The security fellow was stunned.

"They pay you to do that!?"

File under religion of peace

Islam in Europe via Vlad Tepes:

"It is the duty of every Muslim to kill those who leave Islam." This statement was made on Radio Sweden recently when an Imam from Rinkeby (Stockholm) was allowed to speak about how people should act against Somalis who convert to Christianity.

The spin on the matter from another Muslim:

Kenadid Mohamed, who did the first report on the Christian Somalis, says he understands that the imam interprets the Koran literally, which means it's not possible to convert from Islam.

"It is an approach that many believe in," says Kenadid Mohamed.

Many? How about most where most = 99%.

Yay for Jackie O

About a true woman:

Jackie Kennedy's granddaughters are 'absolutely horrified' by the former First Lady's old fashioned view of the role of women in taped interviews released this week, their mother, Caroline, has revealed.

In the 1964 interviews with Arthur Schlesinger Jr., the young widow described her marriage as 'a rather terribly Victorian or Asiatic relationship' and said she borrowed all her opinions from her husband, President John F. Kennedy.

She also said she didn't believe women should be politicians and described being subordinate to her husband on principle.

So hot. The granddaughters? Not so much.

File under duh

Your Tango:

In our society, males are more likely to work in fields dealing with "things" like science, technology, engineering and math (STEM); whereas women lead the ranks in creative careers and those based on serving people. That's just the way things are — but is it based on sexism, which is a social construct, or is there a biological reason?

Obviously, it's the sexism! Just the idea of "biological gender differences" is a hoax made up by the nefarious Patriarchy. And boy have they been successful. Just think of the dozens of broads who could have won the Nobel Prize for Mathematics had it not been for the phallic-centered system of the world.

Instead the number of female Nobel math winners is less than one.

THE OPPRESSION MUST END!

Saudis, rights and sex

Digital Journal:

Women in Saudi Arabia have innundated the government with complaints over plans to import Moroccan women as housemaids. The reason: Moroccan women are just too beautiful and may lure the Saudi husbands away.

As one stated:

“Moroccans are good at magic and sorcery and that this could enable them to lure their husbands.”

True, the Moroccans are famous for their love potions. Wasn't their a Moroccan harlot who seduced Ron Weasely in the Potter series ...

Anyway, why don't the Saudis get their maids from the usual Asian countries?

The ban on maids from Indonesia and the Philippines hit Saudi households hard, causing many to resort to hiring illegal maids over Ramadan.

Why the ban?

The ban came into effect following the two countries attempts to introduce regulations for the work conditions of their nationals. Trade Arabia said both countries demanded better working conditions for their employees. Saudi walked away from the negotiations abruptly and decided to look for domestic employees from countries not as concerned about imposing regulations to protect their workers.

It's amazing really. The entire Muslim world loathes the Jews and their puppets the Americans. Yet, it is at the very heart of Islam where poor Muslims are treated like slaves.

Saudi Arabia is still smarting over criticisms of the beheading of Indonesian maid Royati Sabotti in June, which came to international attention. Since then both the Indonesian and Sri Lankan governments have intervened to arrange payments of blood money to free housemaids from their countries that were facing the death penalty by execution.

Raciss! discussion

Kathy Shaidle:

In any event, ordinary Canadians will, for a limited time, be permitted to express their views on immigration without being called racists (to their faces.) With accidentally brilliant timing, the federal government is currently inviting citizens to fill out an online survey on that very topic.

I duly logged on and took advantage of the numerous fields that generously provide for my comments by typing “NO MEXICANS!!” into each one.

I would have typed "NO SRI LANKANS!!" Seriously, those people need to get shorter names already.

Too dumb to fly

Yahoo News:

The long-serving former Malaysian premier Mahathir Mohamad says Arab Muslims are incapable of carrying out the 9/11 attacks on the United States that killed nearly 3,000 people.

More:

"I believe Arab Muslims are angry enough to sacrifice their lives and become suicide bombers. But they or their handlers do not strike me as capable of planning and strategising such attacks so as to maximise the damage to the enemy," he said.

He is partly right. Arab Muslims are, indeed, quite stupid. Though, the ones who planned and carried out the attacks were relatively wealthy and educated.

A decade later

I went to visit my family in Saudi Arabia in December of 2001. My father worked with many Saudis in his office. He told me how they celebrated when they heard the news of 9/11. Only one Arab was not happy. My dad inquired about his sadness. This Arab said that he wished the twin towers had fallen on their side so that more death and carnage could have materialized but alas the damn towers crumbled straight down on their foundation.

Most Muslims are not and will not be terrorists but they sure don't mind in taking pleasure when the gruesome atrocities of their brothers are brought to light. Today, that moral support for terrorists and Jihad is still there.

I'm fortunate to be now living in the West where I don't have to follow their wretched religion. Here's what I wrote about my experience six years ago:

1. In Darkness

2. The Land of Trinity

3. IX . XI

4. In Delirium

A hot computer

I've been having some computer trouble in the last few days. Windows would randomly freeze for half a minute or more. Restarting the computer would take longer than usual. Internet connectivity would be an issue.

After some troubleshooting I found out that my CPU temperature was shooting over 90 degrees Celsius! So, my processor, instead of melting, was severely throttling itself which would cause the system to become unstable. I cleaned up the PC and reinstalled the CPU heatsink and it didn't help much which means that Intel provides crappy heatsinks with their processors. Not cool.

I went and bought a new heatsink from Noctua. Now, the temperatures are in the 30s. After some CPU stress testing, the maximum was ... 51 degrees Celsius.

Respek the equilibrium

Schumpeter:

MILLIONS of school-leavers in the rich world are about to bid a tearful goodbye to their parents and start a new life at university. Some are inspired by a pure love of learning. But most also believe that spending three or four years at university—and accumulating huge debts in the process—will boost their chances of landing a well-paid and secure job.

Not in the Great Depression 2.0.

Vox Day:

It's not rocket science. If supply is increasing faster than demand, then wages for university graduates are going down even as tuitions rise.

In other words, a degree is worth less and less with each passing year. One only needs a simple understanding of basic economics to understand this issue. This can be learned in a Grade 11 course but too many are ignorant.

Take another issue: medicine. Specifically, cancer drugs.

Last week in the New York Times, veteran health correspondent Gardiner Harris wrote of the recent sharp and puzzling shortages of critical drugs used for treating a wide range of life-threatening cancers and bacterial infections. The total number of shortages has increased from 58 vital drugs in 2004 to 211 in 2010. These shortages have prompted some wholesalers to hoard certain scarce drugs, which has only aggravated the problem.

But how could a shortage arise? Couldn't firms simply increase their price? Nope.

The Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003 introduced a set of complex price controls as part and parcel of the new prescription drug benefit contained in Medicare Part D. These are not garden-variety price controls, like those on gasoline or rents, which interfere with solely private transactions. They are controls that the government introduced as an effort to prevent overpayments under the Medicare program.

Because the government is your friend! Again, as Vox wrote, this isn't rocket science. The price controls in this case are meant to act as a price ceiling which logically lead to shortages. This was and is predictable. Yet, the US government keeps on using the same policy which results in serious consequences.

I'm sure Obamacare will fix all such issues. To think otherwise would be raciss!

The patriarchy strikes again!

The Volokh Conspiracy:

Black women more frequently than any other group of women marry men who are less educated or lower earning than they are. More than half of college educated black wives have husbands who are less educated than they are. These relationships are more prone than relationships among socioeconomic equals to be conflict ridden and prone to divorce.

A very interesting bit:

Of the empirical findings that support this interpretation, my favorite is this: When the husband earns the bulk of the income, the spouses are equally likely to have final say about financial decisions. When the wife earns the bulk of the income, in contrast, the wife is twice as likely as the husband to have final say about financial decisions. This finding mirrors a pattern that I noticed among the couples whose stories I recount in the book: His earnings are joint, but her earnings are hers.

These men are just a bunch of slackers and losers who mooch off their hard working wives! Oh when will this oppression stop!

Good dhimmis

Jihad Watch:

Here is an occasion for a study in contrasts. Time will tell who is behind this act of supremacist vandalism and violation of federal law, whether it was a student, a teacher, a parent, visitor, or a staff member. But imagine if the shoe were on the other foot in Saudi Arabia.

Fighting the oppression

The Daily Mail via Vlad Tepes:

Australia is to remove the birth of Jesus as a reference point for dates in school history books.

Under the new politically correct curriculum, the terms BC (Before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini) will be replaced with BCE (Before Common Era) and CE (Common Era).

The Archbishop of Sydney, Peter Jensen, yesterday condemned the move as an ‘intellectually absurd attempt to write Christ out of human history’.

Muslims are immigrating in large numbers to Western nations. They're bringing their wretched religious views and practices with them. Yet, the Australian government has the, er, time to go after the global standard of dates!

It's pointless really. The way things are going, before the end of this century, they'll move to a certain lunar calendar.

Acceptable hatred

Julie Burchill:

Imagine if every song in which a woman had been belittled, insulted, threatened with violence and done to death was removed from broadcast after just one complaint! Talk about radio silence. From "Hey Joe" to "Smack My Bitch Up" taking in a positive legion of bitches, hoes and stupid girls, the abuse of women has been one of the backbeats of popular music.

And as someone who isn't bothered by abuse, can find it quite bracing even, I'm not whining for it to be stopped. But I am saying that the way sexist abuse is treated as a totally normal, even desirable, strand of popular culture while racist and homophobic abuse must be legislated and demonstrated against is a fascinating illogical phenomenon.

Race trumps the female gender in the hierarchy of victimhood.
