An Update on Life
Jan 04, 2010
Three years ago I was in front of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada in Toronto. The purpose of the hearing was to determine if there was a credible threat to my life in Pakistan.
I blogged about that pivotal event here.
Late last year, I could apply for Canadian citizenship; which I did. Unfortunately, the wait time could be up to sixteen months. This is assuming that I filled out the application properly. The Canadian government will tell me in, oh, four months if there is any problem with my application.
Yes, there's a six-month-wait for finding out if there an error in the submitted documentation. It's going to be a long winter.
Update
Recently the artist who drew this cartoon was attacked.
On Google images searching for "Muhammed" brings up my blog as the first link. Two interesting points on this:
- It's hilarious that a blog of an ex-Muslim gets high hits for an image of the crazy prophet.
- How sad that barely any news media bothered to report on one of the big stories of the year. Interested people were searching for the photos of doom! and coming up with links to ... blogs.
