Use Condoms to Fight Crime?
Mar 25, 2009
It's true of course: condoms are not as effective as abstinence. Equally, when it comes to crime, the setting up of police forces, with the powers to prosecute and detain criminals, is not as effective as honesty.
Via Daimnation which has some interesting comments.
Promoting condom use has two major problems:
1) It undermines the family-building message of the Catholic Church which helps to create a **culture** that is more sexually conservative.
2) People rarely use condoms 100% of the time. I don't remember the term for it, but there is a social phenomenon which causes people to sometimes be riskier in their behavior when they think that their bases are normally covered by their normal behavior in exceptional cases. As is well known with HIV, all it takes is one exceptional case of not using a condom to kill you.

Hah!
"People rarely use condoms 100% of the time."
But don't worry, abstinence works 150% of the time!
loser.

Every time I pass by a condom machine I end up having un-conservative, non-family building sex that very night. Frankly this whole discussion is undermining my sexual mores. Or is that morays? No, morays are eels. EW GROSS!!! Sexual eels!!!! I don't like this topic any more!!!

Yeah, that's a great retort. You're probably patting yourself on the back, congratulating yourself for being such an erudite interlocutor.
I'd hate to see what happens when you pass a gun store.
