Really, you can't make this stuff up.
I think Olmert wants to give the impression of doing something for peace. Of course, his actions will lead to anything but.

I don't think there is any group on Earth less committed to its own survival than the Jewish people.

Well, I suppose that when everyone else in the world wants your people dead it can be tempting to just go with the global consensus.

A more precise question: Will Jewish leaders ever learn?
They've been handing the terrorists and their sponsors land over the many years. Israel is shrinking its geographical footprint for zero, nay negative, return on security.
Why? It makes no sense. Either I'm missing some strategic piece of the puzzle or Olmert is another naive fool.
