Islamic Law in Action
Aug 05, 2008
A Pakistani couple has appealed a court decision to award custody of their two daughters, 10 and 13, to the children’s alleged kidnappers. The court based its custody decision on the girls’ conversion to Islam. Judge Main Naeem Sardar ruled Saturday (July 12) that Saba Masih, 13, and Aneela Masih, 10, had become Muslims, invalidating their Christian parents’ right to legal guardianship.
On the other hand, the kidnappers, who just happen to be Muslims (what are the odds?), are the model guardians for these girls.
I'm sure we'll hear once more that this isn't Islam, to which I'll respond that I see a dearth of pious Pakistani Muslims ready to storm into the kidnapper's home and return the children. Maybe that's one of the many difference between us and them. Like many Christians, when I see the Phelps family protesting funerals in the name of Jesus, it's all I can do to not think "would it really be such a tragedy if someone killed them for their blasphemy against God that is being used to cut deep into the hearts of those poor, grieving families?"

**As much as it would provide many of us a sense of satisfaction, I wouldn't advocate violence against them in that case.
The family will hopefully be reminded of what is in store for these people, and their enablers in the Pakistani government:
Drowning in the sea will seem like a mild thing compared to what God has in store for these kidnappers and child molesters.
