The initial part of the response by Hizb-ut-Tahrir is correct: polls do show that a majority of Muslims want a Caliphate -- an Islamic superstate.
It is disturbingly tempting at times to wish that people could get what they long for. I sometimes wish that Marxists could live in their global workers paradise and that Islamists could live in there planet wide Caliphate. It might even be worth enduring these "utopias" just to see how people enjoy getting their wishes fulfilled. But then my self interests overrides my desire for poetic justice and I wind up back in reality.
