Arresting the Impure in Iran
Sep 14, 2007
One can't make up stuff like this.
I remember hearing a short while ago that the Islamic Republic Police had “arrested” dogs, as a part of their “fight against immodesty”. Today, a very good friend sent a set of pictures of the arrested dogs.
View them here. My initial thoughts were put into words immediately:
Clearly, these dogs are not meant to live in the conditions they are being kept, but, anyways, they do not treat human beings anything better.
Exactly.
This irrational hatred goes a long way back.

I doubt I will ever see a fluffier prisoner.
Is that a bad policeman for petting an enemy of God that way?

From Muslim #Number 055 "When the dog licks the utensil, wash it seven times, and rub it with earth the eighth time."
Yeah, that last dirt washing will clean things right up.

It's amazing just how many spheres of life Islam interferes with. Take, for example, photography.
Who would think that there's anything immoral or wrong about taking a photograph of a person?
Oh, about a few hundred million people.
It's an odd sight going into some Muslim households or their workplaces. They don't display a single photo. Photography as a hobby or art is extremely rare in the Islamic world. Many Imams and such have provided exceptions for passports and driver's licenses. The rest is all considered haram.
It's another superstition of Muhammad made into official Islamic policy. It's asinine.

The whole "idolatry" thing has been taken to extremes by all Abrahamic religions but none so much as Islam.
As for dogs, Mohamed was just scared of dogs (especially black ones) probably due to a bad childhood experience since he was basically an abandoned child and likely was tormented by other poor and outcast people. Sicking the local dogs on the epileptic kid and other "games" were probably great fun for some people and they probably had no idea what they were unleashing on the world. His descriptions of Hell often sound like what a kid who was abandoned to thugs in a desert might go through such as being roasted on a spit for amusement. Having nothing to eat but thorns would be a distinctly desert problem.
I like dogs.

Saddam Hussein used to torture dogs with hot pokers as a child: http://www.jewishworldreview.com/jeff/jacoby110102.asp
Though I'm guessing that's more a psycho thing than a religion thing.

This is a shame. The animal rights gtoups including orgs such as PETA should be on top of this subject. But because we live in such a polarized society, those groups probably won't because the source is conservative groups such as yours. That's a shame.
