I have flown into that airport around 20 times. It is at all times and everywhere hair-raising. Gins and tonic help.
By the way, in the waiting room of that airport---it is in Tegucigalpa---are some of the fastest internet connections in Central America.
Odd, yes?

I bet it is. The most scary landing experience I had was at Boston Logan: there just didn't seem to be any land underneath but the plane kept getting lower and lower. The ocean was way too close for comfort. At the last moment, we got the runway.

In the early 90s, a new airport opened in Karachi--the largest city in Pakistan. Our jaws dropped when we first saw this place. It looked incredible. One couldn't imagine such a luxurious setting in a squalid nation like Pakistan.
So, it isn't odd to hear about such a fast connection at the airport. The local authorities likely want to give a favorable first impression to all visitors.
