It looks to me like there is a not-so-secret game of "we can make things hard for you too" going on. But outright war I do not forsee in the near future.

I can't see where the US is going with this buildup. (I think, confusion is the intent.) Having more options on the table is always a good thing in this situation.
Even if a war starts, it'll be almost purely an air war.
The major variable is: how will Iran react? The regime can start a meltdown in Lebanon-Israel, wreak havoc in the Persian Gulf, attack lucrative Western targets, and maybe even launch assaults on American soil!
Given the nature of the Iranian thugs, I think they'll more or less do that after they have nukes.
