What does a stratofortress do?

It's more commonly known as the B-52. It's a bomber.
It flew missions direct from the US during the fall campaign in Afghanistan in 2001. It flew from Britain during the Iraq War in 2003.
The B-52 Stratofortress is considered to be the greatest bomber in history.

God damn she's gorgeous.
You know, I've got a photo of me sitting in the pilots char of one of those. Got to explore the bombardiers stations too (the dials for the nuclear launch codes were a bit scary), but they covered up all the comms, radar, and countermeasures gear. Turns out that stuff's very very classified. Anyway it's one hell of an aircraft. Seing it up close really gives you some appreciation for what we humans can accomplish when we set our minds to it.

Dang, you sat in a B-52!
I knew a guy who, as a kid, was once invited into the cockpit of a 747. This was of course some time before 9/11.
The closest I've come to the pilot seat of a plane is Microsoft Flight Simulator. Perhaps, some day, I'll get the chance to really soak in the awesome experience.
