If It's Good, It's Haraam

Monsoon Weddings

Misha:

It's that time of the year again, the time for no food, revolving fans keeping the plentiful makeup from running and sweaty people who cant dance enthusiastically dancing. Yes, my friends, it is wedding season again, and speaking as the lone Pakistani female who does not rejoice at the idea of yet another wedding to attend, I want to hibernate till it's all over.

My family went to Pakistan once a year usually during the summer. In all the years there, I attended at most four weddings. So, my experiences were quite pleasant. Though, I can imagine the "meh" if I was invited to dozens and dozens of wedding ceremonies.

One of my male cousins was a mehndi expert. Practically all the girls went to him for the mehndi designs. He held the hands of many girls and took his sweet time. Oh, how some of us envied him!

This is what the finished work looks like:

Mehndi

I like the minimalist mehni pattern on the hand at the lower right. Click here for a bigger picture.
