The Mindset of the Ummah

A letter titled Glorifying Violence in The Daily Times:
Sir: The British government has introduced a new offence, ‘glorifying terrorism’ which makes it a crime to glorify any terrorist attacks worldwide. This is an unacceptable infringement of the freedom of speech. While I do not approve of terror attacks in the United States, Bali, Morocco, London, Istanbul, Iraq, Pakistan or Saudi Arabia, I believe that people who die resisting the occupation in Palestine are shahids (martyrs) and that praising them publicly should not be a crime. I say this despite being secular. All Muslims believe the same thing...
Quite illuminating.
Question: the Palestinians fired rockets into Israel from the Gaza Strip. What exactly are they resisting? Should Muslims be allowed to praise the martyrs of the West Bank but not the Gaza Strip?
Also read the very last letter titled Criminal. It's about the Jews, of course.
