What did it mean?

I had a strange dream last night. A little background: I graduated from high school in the US. My school (which will remain nameless, for now) was a real gem. The many people at the school were my introduction to America. The experience gained from those years has played a major role in shaping my worldview.
Back to the dream: the time is right after sunset. I recognize the place as a bus station which is about 30 km away from my high school. I really want to reach the school as soon as I can. Therefore, I start walking! A few cars pass by but I don't bother with them and continue walking towards my high school. The path is long and the weather is cold. After a while there's zero traffic. There I am walking, with my backpack, alone in the night. It seemed that I finally reached my destination at around 3 a.m. I didn't get to see my high school but I did see the buildings a few blocks away. So, I knew that I had made it. Then, I woke up.
"Weird," was my reaction when I woke up. "Why didn't I call a cab?" was the question that immediately followed.
I do desire to back to my high school in the US as a teacher but so far I've been unsuccessful. Perhaps, the dream is saying to keep on the long and exhaustive path. For one day I'll make it and my dream will come true. Hunh.
