More than 100 people formed a “ring of peace” outside of the Jaffari Community Centre in Vaughan, Ontario on March 3 while the congregants attended Friday prayers inside the mosque. The human chain commemorated the January 29 killing by Alexandre Bissonnette of 6 Muslim worshippers at a mosque in Quebec City.
This is the second time in less than a month that Canadian Jews formed a human chain in solidarity with Muslims. On February 4, 2017, members of Holy Blossom Temple, a reform synagogue and the oldest congregation in Toronto, who participated in a Ramadan ceremony at the Jaffari Centre in 2014, formed a symbolic ring of protection around the Imdadul Islamic Centre in North York while Muslim worshippers attended the weekly prayer service.
While standing guard around the Imdadul Centre, Michael Levitt, a Liberal Member of Parliament, inadvertently posed with a man who turned out to be in the process of being deported from Canada for being a former member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistani terrorist organization.
Welcome to Canada. A country where a Jew symbolically protects a Muslim Jihadist.
