Canadian Soldier Attacked...in Canada
CTV via Smash at Michelle Malkin:
A soldier honoured for his military valour in Afghanistan is wondering why strangers beat him up in his hometown bar this past weekend.
What happened:
He says he'd been in the bar only about 20 minutes late Friday, visiting with a childhood friend who introduced him to people as a war hero, when he was suddenly struck from behind with some type of object. Four men jumped him and began beating on him.
"They were saying 'What kind of hero are you now?'," Fitzgerald's mother Arlene told CTV News.
His condition:
The weapons instructor at CFB Trenton had his foot broken in three places and needed 10 stitches to close a cut above his right eye. Fitzgerald, 27, also suffered a broken nose and two black eyes in the Friday night attack.
He speaks:
"They don't realize how good we have it here in Canada and what we're trying to help the Afghan people have," he said of his attackers.
Ontario Provincial Police have arrested 21-year-old Travis Baldwin, a Morrisburg resident and hockey player, and charged him with aggravated assault. An investigation is ongoing.
I hope his recovery goes well. The thugs should get the maximal punishment for the crime.

Unfortunately, violent crime in this country is considered somewhere behind parking violations in seriousness.
This guy must know the other 3 guys and if the cops are not squeezing his metaphorical raisins for info on them, I hope that some of the people who know 21-year-old Travis Baldwin of Morrisburg - maybe someone on his hockey team - can encourage him to be forthcoming with that information.

Fuck off "mystery". I've been jumped by drunk locals often enough to know that he probably didn't do shit all. Out of the dozens of fights I've seen between military personnel and civilians, the vast majority were started by the civilians, ALL of them involved greater odds on their side, and most were cowardly attacks of exactly the kind that Collin claims occurred here.
My last fight occurred when 3 locals jumped me from behind. No warning, no explanation. One minute I'm standing there, the next I've got 3 drunken assholes trying to stomp me into the ground. Luckily I was able to hold my own long enough for the cops to get there, and I wasn't hurt much, but if they had been a better trained I could easily have ended up in the same shape as MCpl Fitzgerald.

So far three punks have bee charged in the cowardly and unprovoked assault on Canadian War Hero and Medal of Valour recipient Master Cpl Fitzgerald.
Charged are Travis Baldwin (613) 543-4184, Ian Tait (613) 543-2213 and Jeremy Stewart, all of morrisburg, Ontario.
Canada's justice system is excessively lenient thanks to previous liberal governments, so there's no guarantee that these creeps will go to prison. However, if they are convicted, they will have criminal records, their legal fees will be astronomical, they will be sued by Master Cpl Fitzpatrick, and they will be forever known as weak little cowardly men who attacked a patriot from behind and then yelled "what kind of f***ing war hero are you now?"
Real tough guys who have now destroyed their lives and cast shame upon their families. Good luck fellas.
