Peek-a-boo

After the invasion of Afghanistan in late 1979, the Soviet Army asked for supplies such as food, ammunition, and...boots. Their low-quality boots were falling apart. It might have been more than just their footwear.

I wouldn't brag too much. I read during the 1990s that US Army issued boots are estimated to last 6 months of wartime conditions before needing to be replaced. Don't know if it has changed since, but was in one of Jim Dunnigan's works.
