Finally!

Sony is heating up the competition. Eons ago, Sony led the market in music players but now the behemoth just barely follows. I've waited years for Sony to bring something decent to the MP3 player arena. Now, the wait is over. The consumer wins.

Update: Eric is also mesmerized by the Sony MP3 player. He also talks about the software aspect. I don't have an MP3 player yet. So, I'll be following closely the reviews of this new puppy.

About five years back, in Saudi Arabia, I bought a Sony walkman. I didn't have enough pocket money to afford CDs, so audio cassettes had to do. The walkman was affectionately called the WM-GX674. It was love on first sight. Light as a feather, recording ability, radio channel setting, polished looks and a rechargeable nickel cadmium battery made it my most prized gadget. It even came with some good quality earbuds. A small picture can be seen here.

My hopes were up when a few years back, Sony released a hard disk music player but then I realized it didn't play MP3s. Doh. At last, Sony learns and brings its famous sleekness to the hard disk and flash MP3 players. Rejoice.
